My current sculpture series begins with a simple, strange observation: we hold our phones the way we once held sacred objects. These works - built from cardboard, foam backer rod, and paint - explore that tension between the digital and the physical, the consumed and the consuming.
The foam backer rod that traces labyrinth paths through each phone form was a happy accident. Searching for a material flexible enough to follow the meditative walking patterns I was referencing, I found something that bent perfectly - and looked unmistakably like intestines. That discovery became the work's center: we digest information the way we digest food, and both shape who we are.
Each piece invites a different kind of attention - drawn from meditative labyrinths and Mudra hand gestures - as a counterweight to the compulsive, scrolling relationship most of us have with our devices. These are hand-built objects, made with mistakes, experiments, and small victories. The process was filmed, not to perform making, but to show that the thinking happened in the hands.
